Pentecost, the last masterpiece from Stewart Parker at the Lyric Theatre until 18 October

From the late, great Ulster playwright Stewart Parker, Pentecost, his final masterpiece, sets out to find the light in the dark.

Marian needs to move on. She has sold her business and takes up tenancy in a repossessed Belfast parlour-house. Her hopes for a safe haven and fresh start are soon shattered when she finds herself bunkered down during the Ulster Workers’ Strike with estranged husband Lenny, his muesli-chomping friend Peter, and her best friend Ruth who is fleeing from an abusive husband. Each of them have their own personal crises to reconcile before they can carve out a new future. Only Marian is aware of a fifth presence – the ghost of Lily Matthews, the previous occupant of the house that holds a host of forgotten dreams.

Directed by the Lyric’s Executive Producer Jimmy Fay, Pentecost stars a superb local cast. Book by midnight Fri 26 Sept to enjoy great theatre at great value with 20% discount off tickets throughout the run.
