Belfast start-up teams up with IFA to create official game for Euro 2016
Steven McComb, founder of online social gaming platform Unique 11, has partnered with the Irish Football Association to create the official IFA Fantasy Football game for Euro 2016.
GAWA Fantasy Football allows Northern Ireland football fans to get closer to the action, creating and managing their dream teams, whilst pitting their chosen squad against friends and other players in an online competition. Since the game was launched, almost 1300 people have already signed up to play, with thousands more local and international fans expected to follow as the excitement of the tournament unfolds.
Entrepreneur Steven, who is currently a participant on the Invest Northern Ireland Propel Programme, is thrilled with the progress of his latest offering:
“The idea for GAWA came about following the success of our first online football league, The Draft. As an avid football and Northern Ireland fan, Euro 2016 provided an obvious opportunity for me to create a bespoke product in celebration of the historic campaign. The success of the GAWA Fantasy Football game to date has been staggering, with over 65,000 unique visitors and almost 3000 daily users on the website in the first week alone.
“It’s an enormous privilege to have been selected to collaborate with the IFA during such an exciting time for local football, and I’m very much looking forward to see how the competition unfolds, online and on the pitch!”
