A group of dancing dentists from Bupa Dental Care in Northern Ireland have raised a toe-tapping £28,346 for Make-A-Wish®, presented to the charity this week.
10 pairs made up of dentists, dental nurses and other dental staff participated in the Bupa Dental Care Does Strictly competition, and chasséd their way to the incredible live final in March.
The participants underwent weeks of tough training with Ballroom Blitz NI to raise vital funds for Make-A-Wish®.
After a gruelling finale, attended by members of the local community, Aisling Leydon and Joe Murphy from Bupa Dental Care Enniskillen emerged with the glitterball trophy, thanks to their sensational jive.
Andy Relf, Northern Ireland area manager for Bupa Dental Care, said: “It was an amazing feeling being able to hand over the cheque to Make-A-Wish®. The Bupa Does Strictly showcase was a great success and I’m so proud of all our dentists, nurses and practice staff who took part. It was a brilliant way of raising not just money, but awareness too.
“In the build-up to the event, patients from all over Northern Ireland sponsored their local dentists and members were able to vote with their wallets during the live final. Bupa Dental Care also matched all donations meaning we were able to give a significant amount to the charity.”
Make-A-Wish® is a non-profit organisation that arranges experiences described as wishes to children with life-threatening medical conditions.
