NORTHERN Ireland celebrities, including former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers, will take part in the Belfast City Marathon next month, in aid of Northern Ireland Hospice and Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

The #HospiceHeroes celebrity relay team will see Co Antrim-born Rodgers treading Belfast roads on Bank Holiday May 2nd along with former world champion boxer Brian Magee, Belfast Giants star Craig Peacock, ex-MISS NI Meagan Green and GAA and TV star Oisin McConville.

Last month Brendan Rodgers became an official Ambassador of Northern Ireland Hospice, making the announcement at the construction site of the new Northern Ireland (adult) Hospice in Belfast. His late father, Malachy, received hospice care in 2011 while suffering from cancer.

He said then: “As a Northern Ireland native and as a father and a son, I appreciate the importance of hospice services for both adults and children and I’m more than happy to do what I can for this wonderful organisation that provides the highest possible quality of care for local people.”

Boxer and fitness instructor Brian Magee, a passionate supporter of Northern Ireland Hospice who has raised thousands of pounds for the charity, said: “I’m excited about being part of the #HospiceHeroes relay team for Northern Ireland Hospice and always happy to lend a hand, or in this case, my legs, to support a great organisation that does so much good for people here in need of palliative care.”

The #HospiceHeroes celebrities are encouraging everyone to take part in the Belfast City Marathon in aid of either of the new adult hospice which is due to open this Spring; or the Northern Ireland Children’s Hospice.

To enter, simply fill in the registration form on the Northern Ireland Hospice website or call the NI Hospice fundraising hotline on 02890 777123.
