When Avicii takes to the stage on Day 2 of Tennent’s Vital on Friday 26th August it will be the end of an era.  This week the 26-year-old global superstar DJ confirmed on his official website that he is retiring and he called on his fans to make his final tour and shows ‘go out with a bang’.

The Swedish star-producer may be stepping off the stage and out of the spotlight but he has vowed to continue to make music, taking his talents in another direction.

Predictably, the announcement has set interest soaring for his few remaining gigs and Belfast is looking forward to a day that will be part of music history.

Looking forward to the big event, Brian Beattie, Marketing Director for Tennent’s NI, said: “Along with our partners at MCD, Tennent’s NI was thrilled to secure Avicii as our headliner for Day 2, but now we’re really seeing what a coup it’s been.  Like all his fans, we’re devastated that he has chosen to hang up the headphones, but we’re thrilled that Tennent’s Vital will be offering music fans one of the very last chances to see this iconic artist perform live.

“Avicii played to sell out audiences at Tennent’s Vital back in 2013 so we’re confident that Belfast audiences will be ready to do as he asks and make his final live performances ‘go out with a bang’!”
