We are delighted to announce that John Herron has committed himself to the club by signing a new contract this weekend.
Mick McDermott: “We are happy that John has made the decision to remain with our club. We know he had offers from clubs both inside Ireland and overseas but his desire to stay with Glentoran was strong. He shares our vision of moving towards a fulltime setup.
John showed his quality last season and we expect even more this coming season. We know he has a lot more to offer.”
A full GlensTV interview with John will be uploaded to www.glentoran.com later this week.
Also striker Dee Fearon – a Glentoran Academy graduate who made the bench for the first team in 2016 – has rejoined the club. After leaving the Oval, Dee played for a strong Crumlin Star team and last season scored 17 goals in 21 appearances for Knockbreda in the championship. Dee scored our two opening goals and set up the others in our recent 4-3 friendly win over Comber Rec.
Mick McDermott: “ Dee is a welcome addition to our squad. He has done well in preseason so far and will add depth to our attacking line. Dee has shown that he is a natural goalscorer and has the potential to show that in the Premiership this season.”
