Monkey Nuts

Some of Northern Ireland/Ireland’s favourite faces have been immortalised as miniature works of art using one of the country’s most popular Halloween snacks – the humble monkey nut.

The line-up of celebrity caricatures from the world of sport, film, music and television include a much-loved talk show host, adored boy-band member, Oscar-nominated starlet and pro golfer; all created by the world’s only peanut artist, Steve Casino, who spent more than 20 hours creating each of the miniature nuts.

The (monkey) nutty project, which has seen nine famous faces sculpted with intricate detail in monkey nut form, took 180 hours in total, and was commissioned by Northern Ireland-based snack company, Forest Feast as part of its Halloween campaign #makemeamonkeynut

#makemeamonkeynut is searching for two faces to be Mr Casino’s next project and is calling on readers to nominate themselves, partners, parents or colleagues via social media using the campaign hashtag. Two lucky winners will be recreated as monkey nut art pieces.

Andrea Cahill from Forest Feast explained: “Monkey nuts are synonymous with Halloween, an event which seems to grow in popularity every year. At Forest Feast we love the fun associated with the holiday and wanted to create a campaign that customers could really get involved in – and what’s better than having a true likeness of yourself created as a monkey nut or seeing some of your favourite celebs done the same way.

“Steve’s attention to detail is amazing and we’re delighted to have found someone who is as nuts about monkey nuts as we are.”

Nominations can be made by simply tagging the person of your choice on Forest Feast’s competition post on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter using the hashtag #makemeamonkeynut.

The competition has now launched to coincide with Forest Feast’s Halloween range becoming available in stores nationwide. The range includes a 500g novelty bucket of peanuts in shell, 170g and 300g peanuts in shell packs as well as roasted peanuts in shell. Other freaky favourites in the collection include 150g walnuts, 150g hazelnuts and 180g mixed nuts. Completing the spooky series, shoppers can also choose from share packs of Chocolate Peanuts, Chocolate and Yogurt Raisins, Super Natural Mixed Nuts and Frightfully Good Fruit and Nut.
