McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness; Northern Ireland’s muddiest, muckiest adventure race is back again this October. Following a sold out event in April this year, and due to high demand, the event will return on Sunday 1st October at Foymore Lodge, near Portadown.
For adults (over 16) there is the “My Own Mucky Challenge” for those who want to take the course at their own pace and have some fun. New to Mud Madness is “Fast and Furious” for those who want to run the course hard, fast and at full gas! For both events the course is two muddy laps of the 8km course through 25 obstacles. All participants will receive an event t-shirt, event medal, a selection of McVitie’s snacks and a complimentary hot dog and tea/coffee. For “Fast And Furious” there will be prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd for male and female races.
Not forgetting our every popular Mini Mud Madness! There will be two waves. The first wave is for ages 6-11 years and participants will run 1 lap (1km) of the course and in the second wave, for ages 12-16 yrs, participants will run 2 laps (2km) of the course. All participants in the Mini Mud Madness events will receive an event medal, a selection of McVitie’s snacks and a complimentary hot dog and tea/coffee.
Returning for the October event is partner, terminal illness charity Marie Curie. Since the first Mud Madness, 11 years ago, £150,000 has been raised for the charity. Why not add to your muddy challenge and consider raising funds for Marie Curie. For details visit www.mariecurie.org.uk
Event organiser Johnny Davis, from the Pioneer Group, commented:
“With a sold out event in April, and due to high demand, we are getting ready for our second McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness and Mini Mud Madness event this year on Sunday 1st October. Over the past 11 years the event has become increasingly popular with many participants returning every year to take up the muddy challenge. New to the event in October is our Fast and Furious race which we hope participants will enjoy. We are delighted to continue our long-standing relationship with our sponsor McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes. Their support ensures the delivery of this ever popular event. We are also delighted to continue our relationship with event Charity Partner Marie Curie. The Charity has benefited from the fantastic fundraising efforts of our participants who, over the years, have helped raise £150,000. We would encourage all participants to consider supporting this fantastic charity who support people and families living with any terminal illness.”
Tim McAuley, NI Business Account Manager from McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes, commented:

Every year we are not only impressed with the growth of participant numbers, but also the courage and determination of every participant to take on this muddy course and its challenge. We wish everyone taking part this year the very best of luck and look forward to seeing all the muddy and happy faces coming over the finish line.”
Ciara Gallagher, Head of Fundraising at Marie Curie, added:

Our supporters and volunteers love this event and we sincerely appreciate the opportunity to use Mud Madness to help raise money for people living with a terminal illness, and their loved ones. Please sign up for this fun event and support Marie Curie”
