Making sure your business’s social media is built on Good Foundations

The pandemic seemed to change absolutely every aspect of our working lives. How we had meetings, where we worked, flexible hours and for lots of people, even complete career changes.

For some of us, leaving an established career to create a business of our own.

One thing that remained consistent though was the ability to reach new customers and stay in touch with existing clients through the gift of social media.

When many high streets were closed, social media became the modern-day shop window of many of our businesses. But it’s also the window to you, a business owner, who you are and what you’re all about.

We’ve all heard time and time again that people buy from people and so maybe now, after the last few years, presenting yourself well on social media is more important than ever.

With less of us going on days out to the shops, social media is often the first time that someone will see your brand, notice your business or find out who you are. It’s the new yellow pages except now, you don’t have to go searching for it.

Great social media builds brands and creates better relationships with your own customers. If it’s done right, it can be great news for your sales too.

Once upon a time we all wondered if social media was a fad but now, we know it’s non-negotiable. Your customers expect you to be on social. They want to message you on Facebook. They want to watch videos of your products on TikTok. And if you’re not there, then the curtains to your shop window will be shut, and no one will come in.

Saying that, however important social media is to your business, that doesn’t mean it’s something to be afraid of. Like hosting a great launch party or hearing your ad on the radio, social media is your chance to grow your brand and get your customers intrigued. That’s something every business owner strives for.

Social media doesn’t need to be daunting. There is so much training and advice available that you really won’t have to go looking for it.

Eimear Gourley, the NI Property Girl, is hosting the next ‘Good Foundations’ event all about building great social channels for businesses on Thursday 29th September at Belfast Barge. Visit https://skiddle.com/e/36146698 to find out more and book.
