Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day of the year is just around the corner and Tourism Northern Ireland is spreading the love by highlighting some of the most romantic hotspots and stunning locations to woo that special someone in your life.

Tourism Northern Ireland Destination PR Officer Rachel Quigg says there is no shortage of romance filled locations and picture perfect settings in Northern Ireland.

Northern Ireland is famous for its beautiful scenery, enchanting forests, stunning coastline and historic attractions and with romance in the air this is the perfect time of year to spend some quality time with that special person in your life.

“Whether you are looking for a picturesque spot to enjoy a picnic for two, delicious local produce cooked at award-winning restaurants, a romantic weekend away or the perfect location for your surprise proposal, Northern Ireland is full of wonderful places to make this Valentine’s Day a memorable one,” added Rachel.

To help plan a Valentine’s Day to remember, Tourism Northern Ireland has highlighted some of Northern Ireland’s most romantic locations.

Beautiful Beaches
Go for a romantic stroll hand in hand and declare your love on one of Northern Ireland’s beautiful beaches.  Why not get creative and write a love letter in the sand or pop that all important question to your significant other?

Part of a six mile stretch of golden sand,  Downhill Strand is set against a magnificent backdrop of clifftop scenery. Also close-by is Portstewart Strand, at the mouth of the River Bann, which boasts domineering sand dunes and a hidden estuary.

A romantic road trip along the Antrim coastal road will capture your imagination and present you with picturesque beaches, ideal to sweep your loved one off their feet, including Whitepark Bay in Ballintoy and Portrush’s Whiterocks beach.

Co. Down also has a selection of beautiful beaches such as Murlough Bay in Dundrum with its spectacular location at the edge of Dundrum Bay and the Mourne Mountains and the award-winning Tyrella Beach in Downpatrick with its wide, flat sandy beach backed by mature dunes. You can even do some stargazing in the Mourne Mountains.

Love-Filled Locations
There are plenty of love-filled locations spread across Northern Ireland ideal for a romantic day out with promises that love will blossom.

Visit the Kissing Gate at Tannaghmore Gardens by the Craigavon Lakes in Co. Armagh.  Legend has it that couples who kiss over the gate will marry within the year. If marriage is on your mind, why not take your other half along?
 The Celtic Holestone in Doagh, Co. Antrim attracts couples all year round and tradition says that any woman who reaches her hand through the round hole in the stone, to grasp her partners, will pledge love to each other forever.

Capturing stunning views of the whole of North Down and Strangford Lough, Scrabo Tower in Newtownards has been a popular location for couples over the years as you can enjoy the paths through the quiet and peaceful countryside before reaching the top.
