Local arts and activism based charity Show Some Love recently brought together the “glitterati” of the queer scene to celebrate leading this year’s Belfast Pride parade and Lord Mayor of Belfast’s parade to make a difference for LGBTQ equality.
Wearing a mayoral chain custom made by Memento Belfast, and adorned by community made floral accessories, Micky was joined by Show Some Love founders Connor Kerr and Becky Bellamy, alongside drag queens Baroness Titti Von Tramp, Lady Portia Di Monte, and Trudy Scrumptious, drag king Phil T Gorgeous, queer activist & icon Vic Loughran, and LGBTQ disability activist and model Eli Yeung.
Shot by locally renowned fashion photographer Bryony Coles, the group recreated an iconic Vogue supermodel cover in the surrounds of the Show Some Love ‘Green House’ their community space, creative hub and events venue based in Belfast city centre.
Lord Mayor Micky Murray commented “Pride is always my favourite time of year, and this year, as Lord Mayor, it’s even more special. It was a wonderful afternoon taking these beautiful photos and I’m grateful to feel the solidarity, support and joy from some celebrated members of Belfast’s queer community.
“Partnering with Show Some Love as one of my 4 charities this year, has so far been just as much fun and energy as I could have hoped for. The community they have built is a joy to spend time with, be that a cup of tea after a long day, or working with their team to make change happen.
“I am beyond excited by the plans we have for the year ahead and feel inspired by their ability to bring much needed colour and light to the city, particularly as they play a key part of the Belfast 2024 programme of events this year.
They are leading the new wave in the local LGBTQ sector and I can’t wait to see what’s next for their charity”
Watch out for Micky and all those pictured walking together at this year’s Belfast Pride parade taking place on July 27th through Belfast city centre.
