Formed just one year ago and fresh from supporting the Kaiser Chiefs, Go Swim are pleased to announce they have been selected to play the highly esteemed, talent-scouting BBC Introducing stage at this year’s Bestival festival on the Isle of Wight.
Championing the finest new music and fresh talent, selected artists for BBC Introducing stages have all gained extensive BBC radio coverage and been judged by an esteemed panel including producers and presenters from across the BBC Radio 1, Radio 2, 1Xtra, and 6Music networks. Getting on the lineup is no mean feat and Go Swim are delighted to have been placed high up the bill, with a 5:10pm slot on Sunday 7th September.
“There are so many bands on the lineup that have influenced us, most notably Foals…who played the BBC Introducing stage in 2007 and are this year’s headliners!”. – Steven Smith
“Bestival is an amazing and magical festival that always has a fantastic line up. Musically it is right up our street with an eclectic mix of music and a leftfield feel.” – Julianne Shawe
Go Swim are a self-produced, unsigned four-piece from Northern Ireland who have developed a sound of shimmering guitars, boy/girl dual harmonies, driven bass and bouncing drums with catchy synths and guitar rifts.
Energetic and captivating on stage, front man Steven Smith knows how to play the crowd, bouncing back and forth with guitarist and vocalist Julianne Shawe bringing a healthy dose of showmanship and charisma to their live sets. Guitarist Des Hesketh controls a mass pedal board of tricks throwing effects and loops to the mix whilst animated drummer and producer Stefan Malecki has clearly absorbed some of Dave Grohl’s kick-ass talent (and looks!).
Likened to Bombay Bicycle Club, Two Door Cinema Club & Foals, the Go Swim debut EP “Animal” was released June 2014 gained rave reviews from bloggers and DJs alike.
“Pretty perfect indie pop” – Ally on BBC Introducing with Jen & Ally.
Catch Go Swim on the Bestival BBC Introducing stage at 17:10 on Sunday 7th September 2014.
