With Spring well and truly here, Lidl Northern Ireland is inviting shoppers to treat themselves to something a little more decadent this Easter with its Deluxe range of Easter eggs, handcrafted by Cavan-based supplier Aine’s Chocolates. Available now in 41 stores across Northern Ireland while stocks last, the artisan eggs have been crafted by chocolate experts who have been creating deliciously smooth and creamy handmade chocolate since 1999.
Lidl Northern Ireland’s Master of Wine, Richard Bampfield, has selected the perfect pairing for retailer’s new decadent Deluxe Easter egg range with some of Lidl Northern Ireland’s award-winning, premium wines.
Deluxe Dark Chocolate with Orange Egg (£4.99)
For a flavour match made in heaven, Richard recommends pairing dark chocolate with Lidl
Northern Ireland’s Donna Paola Vino Passito Toscana (£7.99) A rich, sweet wine from
Tuscany, this is commonly served with desserts that compliment the intensity of bitter cocoa in dark chocolate along with the zest of orange.
Deluxe White Chocolate & Raspberry Egg (£4.99)
Try Lidl Northern Ireland’s Deluxe White Chocolate with Raspberry Egg with the retailer’s
Tokaji Aszu 5 Puttonyos (£12.99) from Hungary. This unique wine is gloriously sweet –
certainly sweet enough to balance the chocolate – and the honey and candied fruit notes will enhance its flavours.
Lidl Northern Ireland’s range of UTZ-certified eggs are also available in a selection of
varieties in addition to the above flavours and are exclusive to the retailer including Deluxe
Milk Chocolate and Honeycomb and Deluxe Mint Milk Chocolate.
Lidl Northern Ireland’s Master of Wine, Richard Bampfield says: “The pairing of chocolate
and wine has been much debated over the years; however, the key is to ensure one pairs the right wine with the correct variant of chocolate that strikes the right balance on the palate.”
Lidl Northern Ireland’s Deluxe range joins the retailer’s biggest in-store range of Easter eggs to date. With a plethora of eggs for customers to choose from this year, in addition to
novelty Easter treats including the large Deluxe chocolate bunny (£9.99), there’s something
for all the family, from national branded family favorites to private label treats exclusive to
