Leesa Harker and Sarah Lyle are writing and producing two brand new Christmas shows at Theatre at the Mill this Christmas. Usually, Theatre at the Mill produce in-house but this year, a deal was agreed on International Women’s Day for Leesa and Sarah to take over Christmas!

Leesa, an award-winning playwright, says, “I am delighted to be writing and producing ‘Belfast Actually,’ at Theatre at The Mill this year alongside Director, Andrea Montgomery. It’s been ten years since I last wrote a Christmas comedy for the theatre so I am very excited to be back. Most importantly, to be working with a creative team of wonderful, talented women – it just makes my heart sing! It’s likely the first time this female only Christmas extravaganza has been done in Northern Ireland and I am hugely proud to be a part of it!”

Director/Writer Sarah Lyle says, “I’m honoured to produce, write, and direct the family Christmas production, ‘Cinderella’, at Theatre at The Mill. As a woman from Newtownabbey, I feel immense pride delivering this project in my local theatre, especially with the strong female team leading the dual festive productions. It’s inspiring to see talented women from various backgrounds creating something magical. Celebrating this female-led initiative on such a significant platform highlights the incredible capabilities and contributions of women in the arts.”

Theatre at the Mill says, “Theatre at The Mill has historically supported women and in the last year it has hosted three events celebrating World Breastfeeding Week, International Women’s Day and Maternal Mental Health Week. Proud to offer a luxurious theatre experience this Christmas, Theatre at The Mill will simultaneously host this modern twist on Cinderellathe pantomime in the afternoons and a new and exclusive Christmas rom-com, Belfast Actually in the evening. A risk only a team of women could pull off!”
