Irish Musical theatre star Killian Donnelly to share some tricks of the trade in Belfast masterclass

Irish musical theatre star Killian Donnelly and current star of “Kinky Boots” in the West End will be giving a masterclass in Belfast at the end of the month.  His masterclass on 21st February is part of a new performance workshop company in Belfast, Theatre Masterclass Northern Ireland, offering budding actors the chance to learn from some of the best in the business.  Last month, TMNI kickstarted their 2016 programme with the support of acclaimed actor, director and playwright Dan Gordon.

Killian Donnelly from Co. Meath has become a huge name in the musical theatre scene, ever since he was first scouted by a theatre agency while performing in a production in Ireland.  He is best known for his roles in the West End, including Les Miserables, Phantom of the Opera, Billy Elliot, The Commitments and Memphis the Musical (for which he was nominated for an Olivier for Best Actor in a Musical), as well as his role as Combeferre in the 2012 film version of Les Miserables.  He is currently playing Charlie in Kinky Boots at the Adelphi Theatre.

Theatre Masterclass Northern Ireland is the brainchild of Northern Irish actor Fra Fee, best known for his role as Courfeyrac in Hollywood blockbuster Les Misérables, starring alongside Anne Hathaway, Russell Crowe and of course his good friend Killian.  Fee says, “I have taught workshops for young actors in Northern Ireland for several years and have always been astounded at the wealth of raw talent around. Young performers deserve an opportunity to develop and hone their skills in preparation for drama school auditions and life in the industry, and established performers should have the option to continue their development and exercise their skills in a creative environment alongside their professional work”.

Each masterclass will be structured to offer specifically tailored training, with each class involving an element of three main disciplines of acting, singing and movement.

Other guest tutors lined up to teach at TMNI in the forthcoming months include Irish actor RUTH McGILL (Best Supporting Actress Irish Times theatre Award Nominee for The Threepenny Opera, Sweeney Todd) who leads the Masterclass on 20th March. Future tutors include film and theatre actor CIARAN HINDS and Film and TV casting director CARLA STRONGE (Emmy Award Winner for Game of Thrones, HBO).

Theatre Masterclass Northern Ireland is open to all actors from 14 years old and you can reserve a place by signing up via the website or emailing
