Body Count, a new play by multi-award-winning writer Gary Mitchell, comes to the Lyric Theatre for two nights — Friday 13 and Saturday 14 November 2026. It is a Replay Theatre Company production in partnership with The Playhouse.
The play explores sexual violence against women and girls, adolescence, masculinity, and how harm ripples through a family and into the wider community. At its centre is a family trying to make sense of what has happened to their daughter. Strong themes and language. Age guidance: 15+. The production has been developed in conversation with Women’s Aid.
Cast: Cathy Brennan Bradley, Eimear Bailie, Paddy McDonnell and Robert Patrick Hamilton. Directed by Janice Kernoghan-Reid, with composer and sound designer Garth McConaghie.

Why it is on the Belfast diary
Mitchell’s work has long been part of the local stage conversation; Body Count was already flagged in the Lyric’s season announcement. This is a short two-night run with a clear content warning — plan accordingly. Replay has a history on the Lyric stage (including family work such as The Velveteen Rabbit); Body Count is a different register — adult themes, not a children’s festival title.
For the wider theatre list: What’s On, the Lyric Autumn/Winter 2026–27 season, and recent Lyric diary coverage such as Nice Lady and September Belfast events.
