Local model and online fitness instructor Johnny Hamilton from Bangor plans to spend the month of November growing a Movember moustache and running over 300 miles for men’s health awareness.

The personal trainer has committed to running 10 miles per day around Northern Ireland for the 30 days of November while he also joins hundreds of thousands of men worldwide growing a moustache to raise awareness of testicular and other male-specific cancers.

He says he’ll be running ‘Here, there and everywhere’. And would love the public to join him on his runs. “I would love anyone to come and join me. They can find out where and when I’m running each day by following me on my social channels – my online name is Jossiepops – and I’m definitely open to suggestions of where to run, whatever the weather!”

He explained his rationale for the challenge: “I want to raise money for a charity close to my heart, Movember. It supports men’s illnesses specifically and although lots of people associate it with male cancer support, it also supports males suffering from other illnesses, including mental health issues. Having had to deal with these in the past, I think it’s important to shed a light on our mental health when we can, because, although I don’t want to generalise, men are generally not as open as women when it comes to dealing with mental health. Sporting a great big handlebar moustache and chatting about mental health every day on my social channels while I do something which is great for mental health – exercise – is hopefully going to help just a little bit. And that makes me happy.”

Johnny added: “I am happy to say Podium4Sport and Belfast Back Care have got on board early to offer the means for me take myself out running every day, either through equipment or health care. I would love other local companies and suppliers to help out with any offers of support in return for a shout out on my daily video vlogs – and of course, with the bonus that the company will be doing something worthwhile for a very worthy charity.”
