Mentalist and rising social media star Joel Mawhinney’s talent for trickery will be showcased in a new three-part series Life Is Magic produced by Waddell Media, with the full box set available on BBC iPlayer on Monday 5 October from 8pm.
The 23 year old from Bangor, County Down has won over millions of social media followers through his incredible sleight of hand card tricks, dazzling mind-reading abilities and jaw-dropping stunts.
David Cumming, Executive Producer, Waddell Media says: “Joel is one of the hottest young magicians in Northern Ireland, with over 40 million online hits in the last year and over 5.5 million followers on TikTok. His brand of jaw dropping stunts, contemporary performance style and all-round likeability, makes him a hit both at home and abroad. So we’re delighted to introduce him to the world of television with our new series Life is Magic.
“In this series, Joel sets out to bring a touch of magic to three different parties, a school formal, a transfer test and a baby gender reveal party. Before each of the big events Joel gets to know the party organisers to learn more about their personal stories so he can take their party to the next level. He’s a very talented young performer with a wicked sense of fun and an uncanny ability to read his audience, which enables him to select the right tricks which are sure to leave viewers gasping in wonder.”
From predicting personal details no-one else could know, to transforming and transporting objects into the most unlikely places, Joel manages to make each event memorable and magical. Life is Magic is a Waddell Media production for BBC Northern Ireland. The series will also be shown weekly, beginning on Monday 5 October at 7.35pm on BBC One Northern Ireland. It is also available to view in full on BBC iPlayer from Monday 5th October at 8pm.
