Belfast is set to welcome more global leaders across tech, music, screen and media for the ICONS Festival this September.
The newest speakers include; international correspondent Jane Ferguson; indie music label honcho John Dyer; former Girls Aloud member & singer/songwriter Nicola Roberts; and Radio One DJ Phil Taggart. They will be joined by Northern Ireland’s very own internet singing sensation Emma Horan.
Jane Ferguson has reported for CNN, Al Jazeera, and PBS from some of the world’s most dangerous countries and conflicts. Her coverage has included conflict reporting from Somalia, Afghanistan, Syria and Yemen. John Dyer, director of Domino Recordings, has helped shape the careers of bands that include Franz Ferdinand and Arctic Monkeys.
The pioneering event will feature talks, workshops and performances involving icons in the worlds of tech, music and screen, with the ambition to inspires, engage, enlighten and educate.
Top tech exec Marvin Liao of 500 Startups, Hollywood Senior Executive Bill Daly, and Marjorie DeHey of Bishop Lyons Entertainment are also among the speakers confirmed for the festival.
Festival co-founder Jim Fitzpatrick said: “We’re bringing together people who are, and have been for many years, at the forefront of innovation within the creative industries. It’s an exciting time for Belfast, and the perfect opportunity for our youth to build a foundation for a career that they love.”
ICONS is set to be a global event, providing expertise and unparalleled industry knowledge alongside the above will be Jay Onda, Director of Innovation for Yamaha, Jon Bradford, Managing Director of the TechStars accelerator in London; and fresh from raising $10m from Sequoia Capital, GM at PicsArt Wilson Kriegel.
