Want another excuse to visit the North Coast this summer? Northern Ireland’s first Tea Bar is coming to Coleraine

and you can help make it happen!

Meet Áine & Duncan, they’ve started a campaign to bring a truly unique experience to Coleraine.

The couple have started a Kickstarter campaign to raise £5,500 to help them reach their dream and finalise the finish for Northern Ireland’s first Tea Bar. They have designed the rewards around tea experiences, such as ‘Tea & Chocolate Parings’ and ‘Gong Fu tea ceremonies’. Each reward has been carefully thought out to give each backer great value for their moin the graphic below. It started when they tested their venture combining Áine’s herbal medicine practice ‘The Little Herbalista’ and the tea bar concept as part of the Nationwide competition ‘TestTown’ run by the Carnegie Trust UK, back in 2014. The couple won the local heat and took part in the Grand Final in Cambridge, this gave them the opportunity to really test trade their concept. Their approach went down a storm in Cambridge itself, giving the pair the confidence to develop the idea further.

The Tea Bar itself will focus on the art of brewing tea. Áine and Duncan have already been blending their own range of speciality loose leaf teas ‘INFUSE Artisan Tea’ for just over a year. They’ve been working at local markets to highlight why good brewing techniques are important to get the best taste from the tea.

Having signed the lease, Áine & Duncan got the keys to 52 New Row, Coleraine, at the end of June. Work has already begun with the aim of opening at the start of August – all being well. The space itself will comprise of a main bar where customers can watch the process of their tea being made. The water will be boiled in cast iron teapots on top of induction hobs and everything from brewing tea to food prep will be visible from the one level bar; so no pressure!
