Hit musical ‘The Last Five Years’ returns to Belfast in a new, fresh production at Belvoir Players Studio Theatre, 11 – 12th September. With a new challenging in the round staging directed by Gary Redpath, and musical direction from Ryan Quinn, this production takes the show to a new intimate level.
Written by Tony award-winning composer Jason Robert Brown, ‘The Last Five Years’ tells tells the emotionally powerful story of two 20-somethings who dive head first into a marriage fuelled by the optimism that comes with finding ‘the one.’ In a story told almost entirely through song, all of Cathys songs behind at the end of their marriage and move backwards, whilst Jamie’s songs start of the beginning of their relationship and move forward.
Starring Sinead Coll (Sister Act, Jekyll And Hyde, A Christmas Carol), and Adam Williamson (Recently seen as Jesus in ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’), Be prepared for an emotional roller coaster – this intimate show will make you laugh and cry, changing how you feel from song to song – Funny, honest, and intimate, with an exuberantly romantic score by award winning composer Jason Robert Brown, The Last Five Years takes a bold look at one young couple’s hope that love endures the test of time.
This is somewhat of a passion project for Sinead Coll, who is a singer / songwriter from Omagh, but is no stranger to the stage having played many roles at the Grand Opera House with Belfast Operatic Company – most recently Sister Mary Patrick in ‘Sister Act’. It’s also a special moment for Adam Williamson, recently nominated for a Best Actor award for his performance as Jesus, as not only does he get to play one of his dream roles, but this will be his last show in Northern Ireland before leaving to study Musical Theatre at Royal Conservatoire, Scotland.
The show will run from the 11 – 12th September at Belvoir Players Studio Theatre in Belfast. Tickets can be purchased from the Box Office on 02890491210 or online at www.belvoirplayers.org
