Halloween celebrations kick off at Belfast’s Let’s Go Hydro resort this week, signalling the start of a packed two-week programme of spooky events.
With 28 spine-tingling Horror-Week Drive-In screenings; the return of the Millbank Farm Pumpkin Patch and Spookfest, plus a spectacular Halloween night fireworks display, there’s Halloween fun for all the family.
Horror movie fans are in for a treat, as Northern Ireland’s only drive in cinema returns to Let’s Go Hydro this weekend, with Horror Week at the Drive In. Over the two-week run, 28 after dusk screenings will hit the big screen at the Let’s Go Hydro resort, with blood-curdling favourites, including The Exorcist, A Nightmare on Elm Street, IT, and Halloween sitting alongside lighter options like Ghostbusters and Ghostbusters 2. The programme kicks off on Friday 21st October with a screening of ET at 7pm, followed by The Shining at 9.15pm, closingon Friday 4th November with the Night Before Christmas (7pm) and Texas Chainsaw Massacre (9.15pm). Tickets cost £25 per car (up to four people), with pizza and popcorn included.
The hugely popular Millbank Farm Pumpkin Patch and Spookfestalso returns to Let’s Go Hydro resort this weekend. Perfect for little Pumpkins, short haycart rides will take the wee ones for a spin around the farm, with spooky characters, ghost stories, and an arts and crafts tipi with pumpkin carving. The Halloween Spookfest will also feature a giant bouncy castle, a Stranger Things themed roller disco, a hay bale pyramid and stick horse racing. And with dragon boats on the water, hot chocolate, smores, more seasonal food options on site, plus photo opps galore, there’s something for everyone.
The Pumpkin Patch and Spookfest will open to the public this weekend, running on Saturday 23 October and Sunday 24 October from 12-6pm each day. The events return from Wednesday 26 October and running through until Halloween on Monday 31 October (12-6pm daily). Tickets cost £12 per child (including a pumpkin) and £10 per adult for a 2-hour visit.
For families, wanting in on the drive-in action, a special Drive-In Movie and Pumpkin Patch experience combines a pumpkin patch visit with family movie screenings on Friday 22 October (Hotel Transylvania), Saturday 23 October (The Witches), Saturday 29, Sunday 30 and Monday 31 October (Hocus Pocus). Tickets cost £30 and include pizza, popcorn and drinks, plus one pumpkin from the Pumpkin Patch.
On Halloween night (Monday 31 October), Let’s Go Hydro will host a spectacular fireworks display, not to be missed. The resort’s third annual fireworks night promises to be its biggest and best yet, with over £10,000 worth of fireworks set to create a dazzling display. Opening at 6pm, with families can get into prime position for the fireworks show, which starts at 7.30pm sharp. With food trucks, entertainers and movie screenings in the cinema marquee (Hocus Pocus at 6pm and Halloween at 8.30pm), plus a fancy dress competition with £1000 of Let’s Go Hydro prizes up for grabs, this promises to be a family Halloween night out unlike any other.
Tickets for the fireworks night cost £8 per adult (16+), £5 per child and car parking costs £2 per space. Spaces are limited and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis on the night.
