So good to be back at Grand Opera House this week for the opening night of the double Olivier award winning West End and Broadway hit Girl From The North Country.
I have always been a fan of the music of Bob Dylan so I was really looking forward to seeing this show and I have to say it didn’t disappoint. So, Girl From The North Country is not a jukebox musical and you won’t be dancing in the aisles at the end but it features many classic songs from Bob Dylan’s back catalogue as you have never heard them before.

Irish writer and Director Conor McPherson is just a genius and has done such a great job in creating a very moving story set during the Great Depression and based around various characters who find themselves living in a run down guest house in Duluth, Minnesota (where Bob Dylan was born in 1941) during the winter of 1934.
Girl From The North Country features an ensemble cast of actors who can sing, dance and some even end up playing musical instruments like Nichola MacEvilly who is more than just the lady in red, she can play the drums too!
I must mention Frances McNamee who is just excellent in the mischievous role of Elizabeth Laine and does an amazing job with the song ‘Love In Vain’. Belfast born actor Colin Connor is also superbly cast as Nick Laine.
So, if you are a Bob Dylan fan or even if you are not a fan but you just want to see some seriously good theatre then book your tickets on 02890 241919 or online at www.goh.co.uk
Girl From The North Country runs at The Grand Opera House until Saturday.
