As we draw closer to the sporting moment of 2014, the Giro d’Italia, which takes place on May 9 to 11, the Northern Ireland Tourist Board is asking everyone in Northern Ireland to take a fun #GiroSelfie and upload it to their Twitter, Instagram and Facebook pages.
Marie Therese O’Neill from NITB, explained: “As the excitement builds across the country we are asking that everyone joins in by snapping a fun #GiroSelfie.
“The #GiroSelfie can be anything related to bicycles or the Giro – for instance it might be you and your friends on your bikes, a picture that features the Giro mascot, Freddie Forte, a snap taken outside a specially painted or decorated business that has gone pink, or even a picture taken at one of the famous landmarks that line the Giro route.
“We want people to celebrate with us and create their own special Giro moment – the more creative and innovative the idea, the better! The best five pictures will win an exclusive pink Giro jersey.”
To take part, share your Giro themed photo and include #GiroSelfie when posting on your Twitter or Instagram, or share on the Discover Northern Ireland Facebook wall to be in with a chance to win one of five exclusive Giro pink cycling jerseys.

NITB ambassador and Irish cycling legend, Stephen Roche (centre), who won the Giro d’Italia in 1987, visited Stormont recently to take his very own #Giroselfie with Northern Ireland cyclists (l-r) Mark Hazelton and Massimo Manganaro.
