Team members in the Belfast office at leading IT company Fujitsu have held a ‘Fake it or Bake it’ challenge in aid of its charity partner, Cancer Research UK.

The company plans to raise £150,000 for the charity across 2023 and 2024 in support of its life-saving work.

The partnership will also allow Fujitsu to share its digital expertise with one of the charity’s research projects, which it is hoped will help scientists to speed up their data analysis to deliver results sooner.

Geraldine Guest, Devolved Delivery Director at Fujitsu, said:

“We are proud to be supporting this fantastic charity which helps so many people affected by cancer through its outstanding work. At Fujitsu, we care about the health and wellbeing of our colleagues and our community, so by partnering with Cancer Research UK we hope to be able to use our resources and technological expertise to help change lives for the better. It is a great opportunity.

“This is the first of many fundraising initiatives planned by the Fujitsu Belfast team. Thanks to the organisers, those who made and brought in delicious bakes, and the many people who supported and kindly donated to the charity.”

Lisa Bailey, Relationship Manager for Cancer Research UK, added:

“We’re working towards a world where people can live longer, healthier lives, free from the fear of cancer. So, we’re incredibly grateful to the team at Fujitsu for their fundraising efforts which will help support our researchers to keep making new discoveries and breakthroughs.

Thanks to the generosity and commitment of our supporters, every day, people are being diagnosed earlier, have access to kinder and more effective treatments, and in some cases, cancers are prevented completely. Together, we are beating cancer.”
