Three days of craic at Folktown Storytelling Festival

Folktown Market is holding a Storytelling Festival from Thursday to Saturday this week with some of Northern Ireland’s top bards, poets and storytellers taking part  to help revive this age-old tradition.

There will be a large marquee erected in Bank Square,  Belfast from Thursday to Saturday with other events taking place upstairs in Madden’s traditional music pub in Berry Street.

The Festival programme is as follows:

THURSDAY in Folktown Market Marquee

1pm: Hidden Folktown tour with Dr Raymond O’Regan
1pm: Kathleen O’Sullivan & Billy Teare (All ages) storytelling session
2pm: Jake MacSiacais heritage talk
3pm: Recitals and short films

FRIDAY in Madden’s Bar (upstairs)
8-10PM: Storytelling session with Willie Drennan & Colin Reid and Kathleen O’Sullivan & Billy Teare

SATURDAY in Bank Square Marquee
1pm: Hidden Folktown tour with Dr Raymond O’Regan
2pm: Short film from our traditional skills workshops
2pm: Recitals of new old work about Farset River and our old city. Works by Cahal Bradley, Cathal O’Byrne among others
3pm: Wille Drennan and Colin Reid collaboration of storytelling and music
