The Fitzwilliam Hotel has launched the first bespoke designer Christmas tree in Northern Ireland after teaming up with famed local fashion designer, Gráinne Maher, creator of Pluck & Devour jewellery and high end millinery.
Having developed a reputation as the fashionable and chic place to stay, eat and drink in Belfast, The Fitzwilliam Hotel has now staked its claim as the leading fashion forward luxury hotel this festive season.
Following in the footsteps of globally renowned designers including Lanvin, John Galliano and Dolce and Gabbana, who have created Christmas trees for the world famous Claridge’s Hotel, Gráinne’s much anticipated design is now in residence in the grand lobby of the Fitzwilliam Hotel.
Taking inspiration from the hotel’s modern interior and chic colour scheme, as well as from her own perspex jewellery range, Gráinne designed and hand crafted over 300 custom-made decorations for the modern tree, which is also draped with some of her acclaimed Pegasus necklace designs.
Majestically lit with black, white and yellow embellishments and standing 9ft tall, the stunning piece of art is sure to attract attention from hotel visitors this winter season.
Commenting on her eagerly awaited Christmas tree design, Gráinne said: “When I think of Christmas in Belfast, I think of the decadent fairy lights and roaring fire in the perfectly design led Fitzwilliam Hotel.
“This collaboration felt like the natural fit for me in a space that has become synonymous with chic clientele both locally and globally. The Christmas tree has turned out exactly how I imagined –traditional with a modern interpretation showcasing my Pegasus jewellery. I hope that guests have as much enjoyment looking at it as I had designing it.”
Gráinne Maher’s jewellery exploded onto the international stage when US superstar Selena Gomez wore one of her pendants presenting the MTV EMAs and more recently her designs have appeared on top catwalks during London Fashion Week.

The Christmas tree designed by Gráinne will remain in the hotel lobby until the New Year.
