Friends’ School goes from strength to strength with its musical productions. Following the award winning My Fair Lady, West Side Story and Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, this year you are transported to Argentina for the wonderful Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice show Evita.
Set between 1934 and 1952 in Argentina, Evita follows Eva Duarte Peron’s relentless ambition, from her beginnings as a small-town radio performer to her rise to power as the wife of President Juan Peron and her transformation into secular sainthood as the country’s manipulative, powerful and beloved first lady – a status that continued long after her death.
Director Ashley Fulton says, “She certainly seduced the nation. Whether or not you think her actions were honourable, you must admire her strength.”
Evita runs from Monday the 3rd to Friday the 7th of November at 7:30pm in the Assembly Hall, Friends’ School, Lisburn. The 45-strong cast includes Young Musician of the Year finalist Alexandra Willis as Eva, Ryan Hall as Ché, Russell Dickson as the President of Argentina, Juan Perón, James Marsden as Augustine Magaldi and Olivia McAteer as the Mistress.
Principal Elizabeth Dickson has spoken of the growing sense of anticipation in School as the opening of Evita draws closer.
I greatly admire the many talents of our pupils here at Friends’ and how they manage their extra-curricular involvement along with their schoolwork.
I know that pupils have been working very hard under the direction of Ashley Fulton and all in our school community are looking forward to another great show.
Elizabeth Dickson
