East Belfast Mission (EBM) will host ‘An Evening with Belfast Community Gospel Choir’ at the Skainos Centre in East Belfast on Friday 24th November to celebrate the achievements of EBM over the past 32 years.

With Belfast Community Gospel Choir (BCGC) as the star attraction, the performance will feature over 50 singers from Belfast and beyond.  As Northern Ireland’s first and only multicultural gospel choir, the partnership between BCGC and EBM reflects the inclusive nature of both organisations.

Aiming to transform lives, EBM is a charity at the heart of the community helping young and old from all backgrounds, with the Mission providing counselling and services to lift people out of homelessness or unemployment.

EBM, which is part of the Methodist Church, in large part funds its work through a number of social economy businesses.  From 12 Restore charity shops, the Refresh Café, and Bright Sparks day care nursery to the Hosford Homelessness Service and East Belfast Social Enterprise,

Chief Operating Officer of EBM, Andrew Irvine, explains the importance of the concert in supporting the work of the charity:

“With funds raised from ticket sales going directly to the wide range of projects we operate, ‘An Evening with Belfast Community Gospel Choir’ is an event with real purpose. As audience members sing and dance along, they can be confident of the difference they will be making in the lives of some of our city’s most vulnerable people.

“At East Belfast Mission, our door is always open to those who need our help – so the concert is an ideal opportunity to reach out to the local community, and showcase how – with the right support and encouragement – it is possible to find hope in even the most difficult circumstances.”

Director of BCGC, Marie Lacey, added:

“We are really excited to perform at the Skainos Centre on 24th November. As Belfast Community Gospel Choir, we are committed to performing music that carries the message of love, joy and peace – and, having been raised on the Newtownards Road, it’s particularly special for me to bring the choir to perform at the East Belfast Mission.”
