The 18th annual Viking Boat Race has been launched with the help of a former Miss Northern Ireland.
Members of the Ardglass Vikings and NSPCC joined beauty blogger Tiffany Brien at Cutters Wharf to announce this year’s event, which will take place on the first bank holiday weekend in May.
The contest sees hundreds of would-be Vikings and rowers given the opportunity to race their ‘longships’ on the River Lagan. Onlookers can enjoy falconry displays, battle re-enactments, a barbecue and other entertainment.
Susan Smith of the NSPCC said: “This event just gets bigger and better every year, and with more people wanting to combine fundraising with fun and fitness.”
