CrossFit Belfast Got ‘Filthy’ at All Ireland Competition
20 athletes from CrossFit Belfast descended upon Dublin recently to compete against over 800 athletes from 80 gyms in Ireland’s largest ever functional fitness competition.
The five teams of four, two males and two females, tested themselves at intermediate and advanced levels against the best CrossFit athletes in Ireland at the prestigious ‘The Filthy 150’.
The two day competition at the National Basket Ball Arena, Dublin formed seven gruelling workouts that tested the physical and mental capacity of each team in front of 2,000 spectators.
The CrossFit Belfast Black team led by co-owners Jenna Herron and Niall McHugh finished in fifth place overall in the Advanced category with the CrossFit Belfast Green team led by coach Marcin Mroczkowski finishing seventh in the Intermediate category.
Speaking after the event, Jenna Herron said: “There were so many stand out moments and performances from the weekend and we are proud of all five teams who competed at The Filthy 150.
“They literally shed blood, sweat and tears for each other and showed courage and determination many didn’t even know they had. What stood out most was how our teams worked together and encouraged each other, as well as the high level of technique and movement during all workouts.”
Jenna Herron and her partner Niall McHugh opened the doors to the state-of-the-art CrossFit Belfast in December 2014.
