MayWe Events has announced the official launch of “Come On Over: Bringing People & Places Together Through Culture”, an exciting new city-wide PEACEPLUS initiative, designed to leverage Belfast’s rich cultural landscape to promote cultural inclusivity and cross-community collaboration.
Running from October 2025 to September 2027, the PEACEPLUS project is backed by £206,330 in funding from Belfast City Council’s Belfast PEACEPLUS Local Community Action Plan (as part of its Celebrating Cultures and Diversitytheme.) It is supported by PEACEPLUS (a programme managed by the Special EU Programmes Body (SEUPB)) and the amount has been match-funded by the Executive Office in Northern Ireland and the Department of Rural and Community Development in Ireland.
Designed to spark connection and encourage cross-community dialogue, “Come On Over…” will bring together 12 venues and be delivered to 426 people over two years, across all areas of Belfast. Participants – including community groups and schools – will engage in a range of dynamic, collaborative projects to increase awareness of diversity within their communities and neighbourhoods. A leadership and activities initiative for local and city wide venues will help develop cross communities engagement across Belfast and give local residents an unprecendented opportunity to engage in activities in cultural venues and spaces that are new to them.
Led by MayWe Events, known for producing vibrant and inclusive arts initiatives across the region, “Come on Over…”will have a particular focus on arts, culture and heritage activity within cultural spaces across North, South, East and West of the city and the city centre. Delivery will embed the ethos of inclusion, knowledge and understanding and building trust and respect. Participating venues include Cultúrlann McAdam Ó Fiaich, The MAC Belfast, Discover Ulster-Scots Centre & Visitor Centre, Banana Block, The Belfast Intercultural Romanian Community, and Templemore Baths – with more well-loved Belfast-based cultural venues to join in the coming months. By bringing people and places together, we’re creating shared spaces where stories can be heard, connections can be formed, and communities can grow in trust and understanding. MayWe Events is honoured to lead this PEACEPLUS project and to work alongside cultural venues across the city to build a more inclusive, vibrant, and connected Belfast.”
