HUGH JACKMAN BRINGS US THE WOLVERINE MOVIE WE’VE ALWAYS WANTED!
Wolverine (Hugh Jackman) has been haunted by nightmares after the death of Jean Grey (Famke Jansen), so he takes up an offer to go to Japan, invited by Kenuichio Harada (Will Yun Lee), an old friend he saved during World War II who is now dying of cancer. Once there, Logan is asked to protect Harada’s granddaughter and heir Mariko (Tao Okamato) as he gets caught up in a deadly web of crime and betrayal just as he’s mysteriously losing his healing powers.
I hadn’t seen all the previous Wolverine movies. There is six in total. So I was worried I would not understand the full story. I had seen some of the earlier X-men films so I knew the character. This film actually works well without having seen any previous films which I’m sure is the majority of you reading this.
The film also didn’t feel like the usual comic book or superhero film. Its a rather serious character study of Wolverine and much better than the recent attempt of Superman “Man of Steel”.
My only criticism was the end battle felt like a scene from another film. But don’t want to spoil it for you.
The Film is in 3D, but there’s nothing really special about seeing it in this format. I think I would actually prefer 2D, and not have to wear the glasses.
Some great and exciting actions set pieces, plenty of fighting, no cheesy one liners it makes a great watch.
Good summer popcorn fun!
Wolverine 8/10
