Film and Theatre giant Ciarán Hinds to join guests from the world of stage and screen for weekend workshop in Belfast.

Northern Irish actor Ciarán Hinds will be giving a masterclass at Whitla Hall in Belfast next weekend Saturday 13th August, as part of the summer programme of Theatre Masterclass Northern Ireland, a performance workshop company which offers budding actors the chance to learn from some of the best in the business.

TMNI kickstarted their 2016 programme with the support of acclaimed actor, director and playwright Dan Gordon, and since then have had a host of acclaimed theatre actors and directors lead workshops for the students.

On the big screen, actor Ciarán Hinds is best known for his work in period dramas, making his debut as one of the medieval knights in 1981’s Excalibur and starred in Persuasion in 1995. Other films include Oscar and Lucinda, The Sum of All Fears, Veronica Guerin and the screen adaptation of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s The Phantom of the Opera.

In 2006, Hinds portrayed Gaius Julius Caesar in the BBC/HBO series Rome and also starred in Game of Thrones and The Mayor of Casterbridge, for which he received the Irish Film and Television Award for Best Actor in a Dramatic Series.

A member of the Royal Shakespeare Company, Hinds appeared in several notable stage plays, including a Sam Mendes-directed production of Richard III and the Tony Award-nominated Closer.

The workshops take place each month, with each class structured to offer specifically tailored training and involving an element of three main disciplines of acting, singing and movement. This is the first intensive 3-day workshop which will also see Northern Irish actors Jonjo O’Neill and Jayne Wisener lead workshops across the weekend on ‘Playing Shakespeare’ and ‘Acting Sondheim’. It will culminate in a showcase performed in front of invited guests and directors including local casting director, Carla Stronge and director Jimmy Fay.

There are still a limited number of spaces left on the 3-day workshop from Friday 12th through to Sunday 14th August for all actors from 14 years old. For more details and to book a place contact the website or email
