Box Car Blues Brothers band leader Rich “Elwood” Dale today declared that Stevie Wonder will NOT join them on the Limelight 2 stage for their spectacular rhythm and blues revue on Saturday December 9th, contradicting statements by the group’s former road manager Brian Talent. Mr Dale (the tall one) declared that this was “the end of the matter” adding that he hoped “everyone could now get on and just enjoy the show.”
This is the second controversy to strike the band after PSNI officers raided a secret gig in Cherry ‘Death’ Valley when Castlereagh narcotics detectives, believing the group’s name to be a coded reference to the illegal supply of cheese whip, were led on a high speed, fifty car pursuit around Forestside.
Superfan Dennis Flapjack, who runs the group’s Fanzine “Any Blues?” commented, “I dunno why they’d be even doing a gig with Stevie Wonder anyways, cause he’s funk isn’t he? If they were gonna have anyone up there it’d have to be Wilson Picket, or someone out of the original Blues Brothers film, although most of them are dead now.”
Mr Flapjack continued “Not the sequel mind you”, before shuddering uncontrollably.
When asked for a comment on the Wonder appearance, Box Car Blues Brother front man “Tom” “Jake” “McShane” said. “No comment” and took off with his brother in a black and white 1974 Dodge Monaco sedan with Armagh plates.
