Forget shamrocks and shenanigans, this St Patrick’s Day, Born Irish Whiskey is doing what it does best: breaking all the rules. Launched on 1st March and running right up until Paddy’s Day itself, the new campaign swaps tired clichés for belly laughs, bizarre traditions and a healthy dose of alternative comedy.
Teaming up with some of Northern Ireland’s sharpest comedic talents, including James McKegney, Aaron Butler, Saul Duffin and Ciaran Franco, Born Irish has created a series of brilliantly ridiculous sketches that treat St Patrick’s Day like it’s Christmas.
Expect festive Paddy’s Day advent calendars, questionable decoration choices, mirror rehearsals for that all-important bar order, and even a visit to sit on St Patrick’s knee. The sketches, running across Born Irish Whiskey’s social media channels, capture all the chaos and joy of getting ready for the most wonderful time of the year — only this time, it’s all about Born Irish not presents.
To keep the party going, Born Irish has also dropped some seriously cool Paddy’s Day merch. In collaboration with local illustrator Thomas Bannon, the brand has created limited edition Born Irish t-shirts and scarves — perfect for bar staff, fans, and anyone who’s bored of green leprechaun hats. The merch will pop up in the sketches, be available to buy, and land in the hands of lucky competition winners throughout March.
And that’s not all — Born Irish is throwing a Midnight Gass Comedy Night at Belfast’s Ulster Sports Club on Sunday 16th March (aka St Paddy’s Eve). Expect a riotous night of stand-up comedy, two free Born Irish drinks to get you in the spirit, and the chance to bag some exclusive Paddy’s Day gear. Tickets will be up for grabs via Born Irish Whiskey’s socials — so get following.
Ali Pickering, Chief Marketing Officer at Drinksology Kirker Greer, said:
“Born Irish was never going to play it safe for St Patrick’s Day — this is a whiskey that rips up the rulebook at every turn. Alternative comedy is the perfect way to show what Born Irish is all about: bold flavours, no nonsense, and a whiskey experience like no other. This is all part of a bigger push for Born Irish this year — from Whiskey Pong in bars to eye-catching retail displays and even a London Underground campaign. Basically, if you’re not seeing or sipping Born Irish Whiskey in 2025, you’re probably not looking hard enough.”
The brand is also hooking up some of the UK and Ireland’s most exciting creators and influencers with limited edition merch, including Scottish Drink Influencer of the Year 2024 Inka Larissa, The Mindful Mixologist, style queen Kitty Cowell, blogger Laura Lucas, and tattoo legend Jamie Mattocks.
