A football team fielded by Northern Ireland’s premier home improvement company Betterhomes has raised more than £1,700 for Autism NI in a charity game played recently.

Autism NI, Northern Ireland’s leading autism charity, exists to provide practical support and training for families affected by autism, and to campaign and fundraise on behalf of those with the condition.

In the inaugural match between the two teams, which took place at Ulster University’s Jordanstown football ground on June 20, the Betterhomes ‘Aul Hands’ gained a 1-0 score victory against Autism NI.

Gary Sinnerton, who co-founded Betterhomes in 1998, commented “Autism NI approached us when an old friend, David Gourley, from my footballing years put my name forward. We try to support good causes whenever we can, but I jumped right on this one. David’s life was touched by autism when his son was diagnosed with the condition, and I wanted him to know that all of us in the Belfast office are right behind him.”

Betterhomes is a long-term supporter of a number of well-known NI charities, including NI Hospice, their nominated ‘Charity of the Year’. The group is proud to have added Autism NI to the roster. “We’re committed to a number of charities and I am proud that Autism NI is our recent addition.” said Mr. Sinnerton. “We’re looking forward to cheering them on in 2016… and in the years that follow.”
