Monday the 7th of December was the third event as part of the Belfast Mouthing Off Series which sees Belfast businesses go head to head in an epic battle and Yelpers get to put on their judging hats and decide who’s best. The Pizza-Off saw 8 Belfast Pizza palaces go head to head at city centre hot spot Pizza Jazz. Thirty Yelpers were chosen as judges and they each got to sample slices fro each of the 8 pizza powerhouses.
There were pizzas all of shapes and sizes, meaty pizzas, pizzas cover with rocket, fajita pizzas, you name it we had it! Despite the fact there could only be one winner every single competitor claimed a pizza the judges hearts and the winning pizza wasn’t a heavily topped pizza, the Yelp judges voted for the simplest pizza of the night after an epic two hour sample session. ‘The Brooklyn’ from PizzaWorks was crowned the winner! It was an extremely tight contest with only a few votes between the other 7 competitors; Opera, Greens, Fratelli Belfast, Nico’s, Ambrosia,Villa Italia and hosts Pizza Jazz.
This really was an epic showdown with all the Belfast Pizza Restaurants taking part showcasing what our wee city has to offer, here’s my headline; ‘Belfast rivals Rome for Pizza!’
