The Belfast Giants produced a clinical attacking performance to defeat the Coventry Blaze 7–4 at the SSE Arena Belfast, in one of the most entertaining Elite League games of the season.
In a fast-paced, high-scoring contest, the Giants combined resilience with sharp finishing, pulling away in the third period to secure a convincing home win.
First Period: Strong response sets the tone
Coventry started brightly, with Grant Mismash forcing an early save from Jake Kupsky, before Ben Freeman tested Mat Robson at the other end.
Despite early penalties disrupting the flow, the game quickly opened up. Kupsky was called into action during a two-man disadvantage, producing a crucial double save to keep the Giants level.
The breakthrough came against the run of play when Alessio Luciani capitalised on a loose puck to give the visitors a 1–0 lead.
The Giants responded well. Jake Gaudet finished from close range after strong work from Karl Boudrias to level the game, before Scott Conway struck late in the period on the powerplay to give the hosts a 2–1 advantage heading into the break.
Second Period: End-to-end battle
The Giants extended their lead early in the second period through Nicolas Guay, finishing a well-worked move to make it 3–1.
Coventry remained competitive and reduced the deficit through Jack Hopkins, before Carsen Twarynski restored the two-goal cushion following sustained pressure.
The Blaze continued to push and stayed within touching distance as Grayson Constable fired home a powerful effort, leaving the score at 4–3 going into the final period.
Third Period: Giants take control
With the game finely balanced, the Giants stepped up when it mattered most.
David Goodwin restored breathing room with a composed finish, before Scott Conway struck twice in quick succession — completing his hat-trick and effectively putting the game beyond reach at 7–3.
Coventry added a late consolation through Luciani, but it did little to change the outcome as the Giants closed out an impressive 7–4 victory.
