Book Eighty Eight is an explosive story of miracles and mayhem, kidnapping and killings, affecting the entire human race. It begins in the quiet waters of Strangford Lough in Northern Ireland when marine biologist Doctor Eva Ballantine makes an astonishing discovery while studying a unique species of algae. A short time later, ex-priest and former member of the British Special Forces, Hugh Doggett, becomes involved in a bizarre string of events. Three thousand miles away in Chicago, Valentine Sere is finalising his hostile takeover of BION Pharmaceuticals, his father’s multi-national drugs company. When he promotes Kay Kane to BION vice president, no one could have imagined the horrifying consequences. ‘88’ is no ordinary thriller. It’s not about good and evil, it is about events that may change our world forever.

“I loved this book from the first page and I now take better notice of my city and surroundings. I know for sure I will not look at the Strangford ferry the same way again. The book was very easy to read, even though English is my third language. You know you’ve read a good book when you turn the last page and feel as you have lost a friend. Can’t wait for the next one! I am not surprised that Albert McAuley has been approached by a number of high-profile production companies to write a screenplay of his newly released hit book 88.”
Readers Reviews
*****My first review goes to 88. If this really is the authors first published book then what a way to start. A fantastic story, thrilling in its delivery and with a twist in the end that will leave you breathless. The cinematic style makes it an extremely enjoyable read but be warned once you are 10 pages in you’re hooked!! The characters are convincing which makes the story even more compelling, and boy what a story!! More of the same please Mr McAuley!!!!
*****88 is a fantastical thriller set very solidly on terra firma. I love that the main action is set in rural Northern Ireland – places I’m so familiar with – as well as taking you on a globe-trotting tour of earth as we know it. Except, in 88, earth isn’t quite as we’ve ever known it before! It’s a really gripping tale that had me sitting up reading into the wee small hours because I just couldn’t put it down. I’d thoroughly recommend 88 to anyone who loves a good story. The ending begs a new beginning – roll on the sequel.
*****A really enjoyable read. Captivating and interesting. I loved the variety of characters as well the the different locations. The chapters are short and snappy which keeps you gripped. For this reason it’s easy to keep on reading and easy to pick it up again if you really have to go to work! The Northern Ireland dimension was an added bonus. Clearly very well researched and hard to believe that this is from a novice! Looking forward to the next one.`
