The Stena Line Belfast Giants battled back from a 3 goal deficit to force overtime and tally another point in the Challenge Cup Group A standings. Braehead Clan were the visitors to the Odyssey Arena, and the away team got off to a perfect start capitalising on Giants errors early in the first period.

Two goals in the opening minutes left an up hill challenge for the Giants but a brace from Colin Shields and a strike in the 58th minute from Jeff Mason was enough to force overtime and secure a point.
With a power play advantage going into the overtime period the visitors secured the extra point with a tic-tac-toe passing play finished by Neil Trimm much to the delight of the travelling fans.
