Adrenaline junkies help raise much needed funds for Marie Curie at Foymore Lodge event
Adrenaline junkies of all ages ran, fell, waded through and jumped over mud-soaked obstacles as part of the McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness event this weekend to help raise thousands of pounds in aid of Marie Curie Care and Support Services for those living with terminal illness.
The challenge has become one of the most popular and talked-about annual adventure experiences here, and, for the first time in the event’s ten year history, young children were allowed to join the fun as the inaugural Mini Mud Madness allowed the next generation of thrill seekers to take part.
The world famous event has raised an amazing £140,000 over the past decade and continues to grow with events now taking place in Portadown, Aberdeen and a new Farm Madness taking place for the very first time in October.
Organiser Johnny Davis says it’s a fun day out, and one which appeals to all generations:
“As with each and every year, this McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness has been a hugely enjoyable experience for everyone who took part. The grown up event is not only great fun, but has raised a considerable amount of money for a very worthy charity and the addition of Mini Mud Madness this year has meant children can get as mucky, messy and dirty as they like!”
Anne McRoberts from Marie Curie says it’s a unique and fun way to support the much-needed work of the charity:
“Fundraising is a constant challenge for organisations like Marie Curie, but thanks to the McVitie’s Jaffa Cakes Mud Madness we not only raise substantial funds but also awareness of the work we do. This is a fantastic day out that’s talked about months before it takes place, and for a long time afterwards by the competitors who enjoy it so much and we’re delighted to be the charity partner.”
