As well as 60+ local exhibitors, many of whom are launching new products, the Festival – now firmly established as the largest of its kind – boasts lots of delicious free-to-sample food and drink plus entertainment, a petting zoo and a climbing wall. A number of well known local chefs are expected to be in attendance to deliver cookery demonstrations from Friday to Sunday in conjunction with Food NI including:
Julian Hill (Tullylagan Country House Hotel)
Martin McCann (Truffles Restaurant and Guesthouse)
Michael Mooney (Whitehorse Inn)
Jenny Bristow (on behalf of Hughes Mushrooms)
Colin McCready (La Mon)
Regmi Chham (The Raj)
James Mulholland (Ballyrobin Country House)
Stevie Higginson (Square Bistro)
Sean Farnan (The Moody Boar)
For the first time, the event will stay open until 8pm on Friday 18th in order to be part of Belfast’s Culture Night.
Tesco NI Marketing Manager Caoimhe Mannion said the event was the showpiece in the annual Tesco Taste NI campaign and it underlined the retailer’s credentials as a ‘force for good’ in Northern Ireland.
“As the largest purchaser of NI food and drink we’re proud to say our commitment to local just gets bigger and better each year.
“Each year we spend in excess of £550m on around 1200 lines from approximately 90 local suppliers. This event is significant for the entire agrifood sector and presents a genuine opportunity for local companies to get their brands and products in front of consumers of all ages.”
