Join thousands of food lovers at this year’s Slow Food Festival taking part in Guildhall Square, Derry City, on Saturday 29th and Sunday 30th September.
The award-winning event, now in its third year, promises an exciting programme of events including live music, children’s activities, talks, demos and master class sessions from celebrity chefs including Paula McIntyre, Brian McDermott and Derry native, vegan author & blogger, Aine Carlin.
The festival offers a unique opportunity to discover a wide range of delicious, local products from artisan producers and boutique breweries across the North West region, all whilst soaking up the family friendly atmosphere and entertainment in Guildhall Square.
Jennifer O’Donnell, Tourism Manager for Derry and Strabane District Council comments, “I am delighted to welcome visitors to our third Slow Food Festival which has grown year on year and is now established as one of the key dates in the Northern Ireland Food and Drink calendar.”

The action will centre around the festival’s Main Marquee in Guildhall Square, where the public are invited to visit the Slow Food Harvest Market which will include fayre from butchers, beekeepers, bakers and artisan makers to name but a few.
Talks and live demonstrations will be available from 12noon until 5pm each day and will feature Celebrity Chefs Paula McIntyre and Aine Carlin; food pairing with local craft beers from James Huey of Walled City Brewery, and visitors can even learn how to brew their own home beer in 15 mins from the well-known, Thomas Caroll, Head Brewer at Dopey Dick Brewing Co.
All of your hunger needs will be thoroughly taken care of as an impressive variety of street food options and specialist beer garden are available offering local craft beers, cocktails and tasting sessions.
There is plenty available for the children too, as there will be a petting farm, street animation and kid’s workshops where children can learn about food through fun, interactive sessions.
