TITANIC Belfast and Titanic Quarter have teamed up in support of the promising stars of Rossa’s successful U14 hurling and football teams.

The Belfast GAA club will have a Titanic backing when it competes as County Antrim hurling and football champions in the popular All-Ireland Feile tournaments in Limerick and Co Derry this summer.

The teams will boast the Titanic Belfast logo on a new kit and will take part in educational workshops at Titanic Belfast.

Titanic Belfast Chief Executive Tim Husbands said: “Sport plays a vital role in our communities and its importance at youth level cannot be underestimated. It brings together young people who will mature alongside one another and, win or lose on the field, they will have memories and friends to cherish.

“As a sponsor of Rossa’s very successful U14 hurling and football teams, Titanic Belfast is not only encouraging and supporting excellence in the sports arena but inviting young people to learn about their great city, its proud maritime history and the world’s most famous ship, Titanic.”

Titanic Quarter Chief Executive David Gavaghan said: “Encouraging sport within the younger generation helps keep them healthy, but it also allows them to develop key skills required in the workplace.

“Sport is a cornerstone of any vibrant, youthful community – honing skills that serve all of us well in any field of life. Together with Titanic Belfast, Titanic Quarter is delighted to be a sponsor of Rossa’s talented U14 hurling and football teams. We wish the teams every success in their upcoming tournaments. One day we hope some will seek the chance to excel in the exciting things taking place in Titanic Quarter, whether it be in financial services, creative industries, tourism, science & technology, or some new frontier that none of us have yet considered!”

Club official Adrian Murray said: “It is an honour for Rossa GAC that such an iconic symbol of Belfast’s historic past and future has teamed up with U14 GAA players from west Belfast, who will proudly wear their new kits supported by Titanic Belfast and Titanic Quarter and represent the city and Antrim in the All-Ireland Feile championships.

“This is a sponsorship with a welcome educational value in addition, and the children are very excited about visiting Titanic Belfast and learning more about Titanic and the Belfast shipyards.”
