THE GLOVES ARE OFF FOR A NIGHT WITH NORTHERN IRELAND’S SPORTING STARS @Flintoff11 and @ClonesCyclone After the success of his first professional boxing fight, Freddie Flintoff puts down his gloves to launch a spectacular sports ball in aid of children with cancer. Joining him is former world champion boxer and trainer, Barry McGuigan. Thursday 14 March 2013, at the Europa Hotel, Belfast, members of the public will have the chance to mingle with their sporting heroes as they embark on an evening of glamour, entertainment and fine sporting company. When a child in Northern Ireland is diagnosed with cancer, the family on average, can travel up to 500 miles a week to access the treatment they need. They already face a huge emotional and financial strain with a cancer diagnosis without the added stress of travel. CLIC Sargent in Northern Ireland aims to ease that burden by building free, self-catering accommodation close to the two main Belfast hospitals, for families when their child is getting treatment for cancer. All funds raised at the Sports Ball will go directly to the Northern Ireland Homes from Home Appeal. More stars from the world of sport are expected to be confirmed in the coming weeks. Guests will enjoy a drinks reception, sit down meal, an auction and entertainment, all hosted by a very special guest. Tickets for the event are priced at £120 each with a table of ten costing £1000. For table bookings or to get involved as an event sponsor, please contact Gemma McCallan on 028 90 72 5780 or at gemma.mccallan@clicsargent.org.uk.
