The Band, Olivier award-winning writer Tim Firth’s new musical with the music of Take That, will run at Belfast’s Grand Opera House from Tuesday 13 November 2018 for two weeks only.
The Band is a new musical, which tells the story of what it is like to grow up with a boyband. For five 16 year-old friends in 1992, ‘the band’ is everything. 25 years on, we are reunited with the once inseparable group of friends, now 40-something women, as they try once more to fulfil their dream of meeting their heroes, the boyband whose music became the soundtrack to their lives.
Winners of the BBC’s Let It Shine, Five to Five band members AJ Bentley, Nick Carsberg, Curtis T Johns, Yazdan Qafouri and Sario Solomon, will perform Take That’s biggest hits including Back for Good, A Million Love Songs, Greatest Day, Relight My Fire, Shine and Rule the World.
The leading ladies starring in the show are Rachel Lumberg as Rachel, Alison Fitzjohn as Claire, Emily Joyce as Heather, Jayne McKenna as Zoe, Faye Christall as Young Rachel, Sarah Kate Howarth as Young Claire, Katy Clayton as Young Heather, Rachelle Diedericks as Debbie, and Lauren Jacobs as Young Zoe.
Ian Wilson, Grand Opera House chief executive said:
“It’s appropriate that this vibrant new musical featuring the songs of one of the most successful bands of all time has itself become such a smash hit. I’m delighted that The Band is coming to the Grand Opera House, and I’m sure that every Take That fan in Northern Ireland will want to see it!”
The Band is directed by Kim Gavin and Jack Ryder and produced by David Pugh & Dafydd Rogers alongside Take That members Gary Barlow, Howard Donald, Mark Owen and Robbie Williams.
