SUBWAY NI scores major sponsorship deal with the Northern Ireland Boys Football Association

SUBWAY NI becomes official sponsor of the National Youth League and the Northern Ireland Boys’ FA Cup

Subway NI has signed a major multi-year sponsorship deal worth £60,000 with the Northern Ireland Boys Football Association (NIBFA), which will see the convenience food retailer become both the National League and popular NIBFA Cup competition’s official sponsor until 2018, it was confirmed today.

With this new agreement, NIBFA and the National Youth League consolidates its sponsorship program with one of the world’s leading brands of the food industry and now means that Subway NI will be strongly linked in name and brand as it continues to fuel grass roots football until 2018.

Subway NI sponsored the National League for the first time in 2014 as part of the local franchisees wider activity programme with youth football. Subway NI currently employs over 650 staff in their 92 locally owned and operated franchises, providing a wide range of convenient, tasty and healthier food choices.

Founded in 1976 NIBFA has been at the forefront of the development of youth football in Northern Ireland – a commitment which was underpinned in 2007 when at the request of member clubs a new National Youth League was formed. This will now become widely known as the NIBFA SUBWAY National Youth League.

Mr Jim Weir, League Secretary for the Northern Ireland Boys Football Association, said:

“We are really excited to welcome Subway on board as our key sponsor and we look forward to the next three years with great confidence and with a shared ambition of mutual success.  In its decision to fuel grass roots football in this way, Subway is firmly committed to supporting our continued growth and in serving all areas in youth football which as an activity provides a healthy and social lifestyle.”

This year the league will celebrate its eighth successful season with over 150 teams across Northern Ireland in 12 separate divisions. The divisions registered for the 2015/16 season include squads aged from under 12 up to and including those aged under 17.

Subway NI’s Marketing Chairman, Scot Heyes said:

“Our strategic, supportive partnership with NIBFA and the National Youth League represents a perfect match for Subway and we are proud to be proactively supporting a forward-looking, ambitious League and cup competitions which demonstrate and promote passion, drive, and a will to succeed.

“With a combined team spirit, Subway looks forward to cultivating the deep grass roots enthusiasm for the sport and growing community participation and engagement at all levels in an exciting, proactive way.”

During the 2015/16 football season, players will get the chance to enjoy Subs on the bench and even on the way home from away fixtures from one of the many local Subway stores.
