Fairytales, festive fables and fantastical family favourites – that’s what families will experience at the MAC’s Christmas Show, The Night Before Christmas. This brand new, unique Christmas tale explores the power of stories and storytelling in mysterious and magical ways.
Audiences will meet Noelle, a Storyteller who loses her words, forgetting some of her favourite tales and fables. Luckily, she meets some well-known literary characters who help her piece together her memories (with the help of a little magic!) and recount their stories in time to deliver the gift of a special book to the Queen. This won’t be easy though, as the disgruntled Commissioner stands in their way.

The Night Before Christmas will bring fairytale characters to life on stage, directly from the pages of your favourite books, performed by some of the biggest names in theatre including Allison Harding as the Storyteller Noelle and Sean Kearns as the Commissioner and the Big Bad Wolf.
Lisa May, Director of The Night Before Christmas, described what audiences can expect to see at the show. She said: “We have an incredible cast and production team, who have created an enchanting production bursting with drama, energy and humour. Both quaint and quirky, our Christmas show boasts a stunning set, fabulous costumes, wonderful special effects and a beautiful new score by Garth McConaghie. The Night Before Christmas at the MAC is a festive family treat not to be missed. We encourage anyone who wants to join us to book tickets before they sell out!”
The show is co-written by Stephen Beggs and Simon Magill, and produced by the MAC, with a commitment to ensure performances are accessible and inclusive to all. While all ages are welcome, it is suggested that children aged five and over will get the most fun out of it. There are also a number of relaxed performances scheduled, which are designed specifically for younger audiences and those with additional needs so that their visit to the theatre is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible.
Simon Magill, Creative Director of Live Events at the MAC added: “We are excited to welcome friends old and new to the MAC over the Christmas and New Year period. The Night Before Christmas will be the perfect way for you and yours to renew long-standing Christmas traditions or create new memories through the gift of theatre. We hope everyone enjoys watching the show as much we have making it and look forward to seeing you all there.”
The Night Before Christmas runs at the MAC from 29th November until 7th January. For more information, to view special saver offers and purchase tickets, visit www.themaclive.com.
