Skin Care Tips for Acne Prone Skin

Skin care is important because it protects the skin from damage and helps maintain a youthful appearance. It can also help with certain medical conditions such as acne or eczema.  What are some ways you can take care of your skin? Well, there are many different products to choose from – soaps, lotions, scrubs, masks, etc. You should find one that suits your needs best, but give advantage to beauty solutions based on natural ingredients such as those found on misumiskincare.com.

In addition to these basic products, you may want to try more advanced treatments like peels or chemical peelings which have been shown in studies to be helpful for those with very severe acne problems. If this seems too complicated for you, then perhaps something simpler would suffice, such as a daily moisturizer or serum that hydrates the skin. But be sure to check whether it is suitable for your skin type, because if it isn’t it will make the problem worse. If you need help with your skin, then here are a few skin care tips for acne-prone skin.

Wash Your Hair Often

One might not think it, but the correlation between washing hair and acne is actually quite prevalent. The first thing that you should try if you have acne-prone skin is to wash your hair. One of the reasons that many people get breakouts is because their fringe is covering their forehead for the majority of the day. If you don’t wash your hair often, or are washing it improperly, then the grease or oil build up will transfer to your face, and if you sweat often, it will definitely cause an outbreak.

If you have particularly oily hair, then there are shampoos that help with that. There are many guides on the internet that explain exactly how your hair should be washed and why it should be done that way.

Wash Your Face Twice a Day

The next thing that you should try doing is washing your face twice a day, especially if you sweat often. This is because acne is caused by an oily substance called sebum, as well as dead skin cells and bacteria that block hair follicles. This is made worse by bacteria, and more so, dry skin. By washing your face twice a day you are able to remove the excess oil and dead skin cells which reduces the chances of a breakout.

Once in the morning and once in the evening is perfect since you most likely sweat whilst sleeping, and definitely during the day. Although, you should make sure your skin doesn’t lose the good oils it needs by over washing, and you should be particularly careful if you have sensitive skin.

Choose Products Wisely

The next thing that you should consider are the products that you are using, since almost all skin care products were designed with a certain skin type in mind. There are four major skin types: oily, dry, normal, and combination. If you were to use the incorrect product, you will definitely make your skin worse. If you have dry skin, then you should use products that add moisture, and if you have oily skin, you should avoid any products that could add excess oil to your skin.

More than this, you should also not overuse any product, such as moisturizers, since this will also clog pores which will lead to further acne and breakouts.

Be Careful with Exfoliating

Finally, you might be thinking that exfoliating often is good, but it turns out that it could be even worse for your acne. When you exfoliate, which should be done two to three times a week, you remove the dead skin cells from your skin, which helps to unclog pores. Exfoliating more than this might actually damage the skin by weakening it, and as a result, the bacteria that causes acne has an easier chance of getting in, which results in breakouts.

Common signs of over exfoliating include inflamed skin, redness, and irritation. In addition to this, you may develop a rash and your skin will become dry and possibly flaky. All in all, only exfoliate twice or three times a week, and you will be fine.
